Homeschool Co-op- First Day!

Today was the first day (an orientation day) of our Catholic Homeschool Co-op. It went wonderfully!

We (accidentally) got there early today, but it was good practice since we would normally arrive at that time to start our day. Since we were early the kids and I played for awhile in the nursery. J-Man's science lesson last week was on Nutrition and the Food Pyramid... so I look up and the next thing you know, he says, "Look Mom- a FOOD PYRAMID!" hahahaha... funny kid. (toy blocks, play food!) And no I didn't tell him to do this, he's just that clever. Glad he's incorporating all that knowledge into daily life. ;o)

The Moms and kids all arrived and gathered in the nursery to introduce themselves and say a prayer, there are only about 10 families (?) total participating this year (and some not on both days, some are coming just Mondays or just Wednesdays) so it feels like one big family. When we went around the circle my Little Miss said "I'm in pweschoowl!" and everyone smiled. J-Man said his name and said, "I'm in 2nd grade!" until Mommy reminded him to say 1st grade ;o) teehee.

Then off my little Ninja man went to the K/1st grade room and did his schoolwork with his friends and had fun. His teachers said he was "so sweet"- yeah that about sums him up. As far as I know he had a great day... he told me about science lab, but he's currently snoozing on the couch after his busy morning so he'll have to fill me in on the rest later :)

While little man was doing his big kid school thing, (they grow up so fast!) Mommy and the munchkins stayed in the nursery. I taught Catholic ABCs preschool to the 3 and 4 year olds... I have 4 girls in my class. Boy are they cute! I had another Mom in there with me (phew!) to watch the 2 yr old lil sister of one of my preschoolers and MY 18 month old trouble maker. So she watched those 2 while I taught the preschool four. We sang songs and talked about the letter A and did an "Angel" craft. They all had such fun.

Here is my little chica reading books on the kiddie couch before school started with her new gal pal:
Gal pal L on left... My girl on right :)

Just a snapshot of the gorgeous big beautiful nursery/preschool area...before everyone arrived for the day. That's my Monkey Boy playing in the front!
This is not the entire thing but gives you an idea of how big and beautiful it is, we're very blessed to have this space to use!

Here's a snapshot of Little Miss stacking people toys all in a row... how organized! She was tickled, and I hope she passes on some of her organizational abilities to her mother ;o) hahaha. TroubleMaker was happy to help her REMOVE them and put them back in their bin ;) Luckily she tolerates him so well.

Here is a picture of my girl's craft today, after leaning about the Letter A :o)
We cut out triangles and circles, painted our hands and printed them for angel wings and added glitter, glued on yarn hair and cotton balls for the "cloud". The girls had a lot of fun!

After our craft we all gathered in the chapel for prayer before lunch.
One of the teachers taught all the children how to genuflect and spoke with them about showing reverence and respect for Jesus in the tabernacle. It was beautiful, never too young to teach them about Jesus!
Believe it or not, my BennyBoo saw all the other kids and (yes, 18 months old)
he bent his little knees and crouched down and folded his hands in prayer, it was possibly the cutest thing I've ever seen. Unfortunately I don't have a picture of that, sorry! :)
He also pointed to the front of the church and (during a quiet moment of prayer of course) loudly proclaimed, "JESUS!!! CHEEEESUS!!!" hahaha. Love this kid.

After lunch was recess and free play time... J-Man was invited to join in Schola this year (choir, Gregorian Chant) but wasn't feeling ready for that this year. That's ok, he can try it next year or the following, whenever he's ready. Since BabyBoo was ready for a nap we all packed up and headed home for the rest of the afternoon.
Tonight my lil man has his first piano lesson! ...with his teacher, AKA Daddy ;)

Great day, beautiful families, amazing blessings.
This year is going to be so wonderful already, I can tell!
