Josiah's new discovery

This morning Josiah woke up happy and he is feeling MUCH better! I can tell! I'm so glad his antibiotic is kicking in and that I'm getting my happy OBEDIENT boy back. We've missed the real Josiah the past few days... the poor little guy, he must've been feeling miserable. This morning he woke up and said, "Hi Mommy!" with a big smile, and I said, "goodmorning Josiah! You look like you are feeling better! Are you feeling better?" and he said, "YES! My sick is all gone!" haha. Too cute.

So needlesss to say we've been having a great morning so far. Here is Josiah listening to himself play the keyboard with headphones on... we saw headphones in a book so I thought I'd show him what that meant... he enjoyed the new discovery. I hope you all are having a fun day like we are! God bless!

Daddy-Daughter Love

Last night we had a great time relaxing as a family. Michael came home from work and Josiah ran into his arms and gave him a big hug! Lydia had just eaten was all happy and ready to play. It was so cute, Michael was making her giggle! He was making funny noises, and then bouncing her around, and she was smiling at him and occasionally giving a little giggle. She's smiling so much more now! It's so fun! I have two videos of him making her smile/laugh, but unfortunately my computer won't let me download them right now, so I'll try to see if I can post them sometime soon.

Lydia also had her first BOTTLE last night! She was sleeping a really good nap in the afternoon, and I didn't want to wake her to eat so I just pumped some milk and put it in the fridge for later. I surprised Daddy with it later and told him he could feed her! He was happy to be able to feed her and have some snuggle time with her. She's almost 2 months old, (can you believe it!? She'll be 2 months old tomorrow!) so we weren't sure how she'd react to the bottle. I really wasn't sure she'd take it, since she's such a big fan of nursing! BUT, she did wonderful! She took it right away, ... who can resist the "Mommy Milk"? hahaha. We asked big brother Josiah if he wanted to feed her a bottle, but he wasn't really interested so he just read a book nearby...

Lydia loving her first bottle! (Hmm... how come Daddy has Mommy's milk?)

Hope everyone is doing well.. we'll try to post those videos soon if we can get them up and running. God bless!

Busy Busy weekend... Home Again Home Again, Jiggidy Jig.

Well, we had a fun and busy weekend. Josiah, Lydia and I left on Saturday to go see Andrew, Laura and Lucy (and Pheobe!) and we came back yesterday. We had a lot of fun with "Lucy Goosey" as Josiah was calling her all weekend, and she did a great job putting up with us. Poor Josiah... he's been sick and once again, I guess I couldn't be expecting good behavior from him... but he was pretty cranky and grouchy. I think Lucy learned to yell "NOO!!" and make a mad face (at least better than she ever had before) thanks to her cousin Josiah. (sighh...) However, despite the fact that we were constantly tearing the two of them apart, they did have a little fun together (one notable incident comes to mind- dinner table peek-a-boo... it was absolutely adorable!) and we were all able to keep busy and distracted. Poor Laura and Lucy are trying to keep distracted this week themselves while Andrew is on a business trip of their own... a big THANK YOU to the girls (and Andrew!) for putting up with us this weekend! Laura is amazing and cooks and bakes and inspires me to be a better wife. I came home and planned meals for the whole rest of the week and went grocery shopping... AND I'm going to bake some banana bread for Daddy to eat for a quick breakfast. (Got that idea from her too... her pumpkin bread is SO GOOD!) :o) I also was amazed, Lydia and I got to hang out with the gals and watch a movie and eat pizza on Saturday night- it was such a treat! And Lucy... ahhh... there are no words. That girl is so ridiculously precious... I could just eat her up. Even when she gets into trouble (which yes, she has a very good talent for I think...) she is still so cute, I don't know how Laura stands it. It makes me understand why they'd want a LOT more babies! I can't wait to meet little Pheobe Jane in February!

SO... we came home a day early (Monday rather than Tuesday) because Josiah was definitely needing the comforts of home. I could tell.. he was (unfortunately) just getting worse and woke up on Monday with a really scratchy throat and a nasty cough. WELL... I tried to get him into the doctors but the earliest they had was this morning. SO I took him in to the doctors this morning and turns out he has an ear infection. Poor little guy. It explains all the falling the past few days (fluid in the ears, dizziness) and his general crankiness. Laura--- you would probably be glad we didn't stay the extra day... he started acting a bit normal again upon getting home, but then got WORSE today... he's very... "on the edge" as my Mom described it. Which is a very good description. I mean, I can't blame him, he feels crummy... but, man, it's so hard to be patient with him sometimes. I definitely lost my cool this morning, and I felt so bad... I spent the rest of the day trying to spoil him and be extra patient. Anyway, he had his first dose of amoxicillian tonight, hopefully he'll be perking up in a few days.

GOOD NEWS... Daddy's HOME!!! :o) Safe and sound!! We missed him so much!! He's home and is currently taking what was a very fussy baby and making her quiet as a mouse... ahhhh... I missed this. He's amazing! And Lydia KNOWS if it's not him. Uncle Andrew did a great job with her this weekend... but she was definitely missing her Daddy! And Josiah is so excited to see him and play with him.. with his new toy plane Daddy brought home!

Well... gotta get going, always so much to do :o) Please pray for our country this next week!!!!

God bless!

Snotty... in more ways than one.

So Josiah is battling a cold... a gross cold.. and I don't know HOW I don't have it too, but I'm glad I don't! He's all congested and talks all stuffy, which actually is really cute because he talks so much...haha. And his words sound cute when he's congested, not that I wish sickness upon him or anything... it's just funny that I even find him cute when he's sick. He's got lots of thick yukky snot and I've been constantly wiping his nose and washing my hands over and over and over and over and... you get the picture.

Lydia is doing great as always, perfect doll baby. She has even started falling asleep for me now, without being held or nursed or anything! I just lay her in her bassinet when she's happy and all the sudden, she's asleep. It's amazing. She's such an awesome baby girl. She's asleep on my chest right now, and I'm soakin' in the baby love :)

SO back to Josiah... I learned my lesson today by thinking that it was still okay to go to our play date. HA HA HA... Dummy Mommy learns her lesson. Don't take a sick and groucy toddler to another kids house and expect him to share and behave... oh it was a bad morning. (On a side note, his friend is named Mathias, and congested it sounds like, "Mahffhias" (if you can picture that... it's SO cute.) BUT, we're okay now, and after a nap, we are just relaxing and watching some VeggieTales. Thank God for little kid movies with values, ... they are great... and I don't feel bad letting him watch them!

Hope everyone is doing well... we will be away this weekend. Since Daddy is going on a business trip, Mommy and the kiddos are headed to Western MD to see the one and only LUCY - oh yes, and her parents too :o) We are so excited! I'm sure I'll have a million great pictures when we get back next week.

God bless!

Lydia's Happy Day

So today while Josiah napped, Lydia didn't... therefore, I didn't. (BUMMER!) BUT, she had this happy awake time where she just chatted away with little baby sounds (so cute!) and I got some of her sweet little smiles at me on camera! She's smiling more and more and her dimples are the sweetest. I unfortunately had pretty bad lighting and she was in a spot on the floor on a blanket near the bassinet, but I did my best with the camera... she's adorable no matter what! Enjoy!

See that dimple!? ah! So cute!

Tummy Time Buddies

So I put Lydia on her "tummy time" mat the other day and big brother Josiah just thought she was cute as a button and was completely facinated! I told him to "get down there and talk to her" and it was too sweet... she was really into him and when he would go "HI BABY WYDIAA!!!" (hahaha) she would look up at him. It was so sweet!

Josiah saying "Hiii babbby Wyddiaaaa!"

Deciding to rest his head like she did... :)

Sleepless Sleep

I've decided there is nothing more frustrating than sleepless sleep. It's so annoying when you get several hours of sleep in a row and then wake up feeling like you never slept.

Priceless.

How cute is this!? Josiah's favorite place to be... at Grandma and Grandpa's house.

Lydia's little grin

Lydia grinning when she heard Mommy's voice...

Lydia keepin' the grins going for "Aunt" Erica!
Lydia's big grin! Looks like she's laughing, doesn't it?? Too cute!

So we've captured it on camera a few times... Okay, I should say my friend Hayley did- then I did today! Soon she'll be smiling up a storm and we won't have any problems with that. We are looking forward to her baptism this weekend, we are so excited to see everyone and celebrate! I am attempting to clean up and down and get things put away, etc so I'm a little (okay completely) stressed and am going to be SO BUSY this week preparing. SO don't expect any more new blog posts any time soon! hahaha!

... Will hopefully post some great pictures after this weekend!

Love and Prayers,

Lisa and Family

A few slightly more recent pictures of Lydia...

...are posted under our "Welcoming our Lyddie-Bug" album on facebook. There's a couple that my friend took of her little grin last weekend. I got a few more today, she's smiling a little more so I think I finally caught a little grin on camera! Anyway, I will post them soon.

ODE to NANA

So we've been intending to post about our amazing NANA Lois for about a month now... (I know- how sad is that!?) but hey, better late than never they say! I think that I thought I already posted them- because I did put them into a baby scrapbook for Lydia... but I guess I forgot to post them here! (Sorry Nana!) Anyway, Michael's amazing Mom Lois spent the first week of Lydia's life with us after she was born- and she basically kept the family alive!! She helped us with meals, did all the laundry and the dishes, and took care of Josiah so that I could bond and feed and take care of Lydia while I rested and healed up. (Makes me understand why people get Nanny's and Maids... haha!) We were SO spoiled! It was AMAZING and the most wonderful gift to have her here with us!

Here are some pictures from Lydia's first week of Life and Nana's visit with us. The last one is in Lydia's room.

Thank you Nana!!! (And thank you Pappy for sharing us with her- boy... you must be spoiled at home- aren't you!?) :o)

Love, Lisa and Michael, Josiah and Lydia

Random pictures and notes...

Here are some random pictures from recently... Josiah and I playing and being silly... Josiah playing at a fall fest that we BRIEFLY stopped by one day and there was a wooden train playground- LOVED IT!!! And Lydia's newest nightly routine... for the past couple weeks during her "fussy time" after I've already fed her and changed her, she is only happy on DADDY'S shoulder walking around. She eventually settles and falls asleep... and we can't complain- she sometimes sleeps all night! Or around 6 hours or so, it's amazing!!
More pics to come...

Deacon Daddy

This morning I watched my Dad being declared a candidate for the deaconate... and his acceptance of course...class of 2011- WOOHOO!! It was really actually very neat to see all the people there, probably about 70-80 deacons and then 50 or 60 (?) deacons-to-be! Lydia and I showed up fashionably late to the mass... haha... if I could have found the entrance to the church it wouldn't have been so hard! Anyway we made it there and we were so proud! We love you Dad!

To be honest though, Lydia stole the show. Go ahead and ask anyone... Dad will admit it ;o) He proudly showed off his grand-daughter and Lydia was blessed by Archbishop Edwin O'Brien. Awesome! We had a great morning.

Congratulations Deacon Daddy!
(Okay... well maybe it's not official yet, but we'll be there in 2011 to cheer you on too!)
