So let's see... what does a stay-at-home Mom of three (ahem, four) do with her time?
Let's run through a relatively "normal" day... like today.
7 am. I hear the toddler yelling "Mooooommmmmyyy!!!!" from his crib. I didn't think any other kids were up, so I quicky hop up and get him up, change his diaper (throw kinda wet from pee jammies in the hamper and grab some clean clothes) and carry hhim to the kitchen to get some milk. There's Dadddddddy!!! Quick snuggle hug with Daddy before he leaves for work, then I see the 5 yr old is watching Disney junior cartoons which I asked Hubby to put on for him. perfect.
Out of the side of the kitchen... in walks tiny 3 yr old with pink jammies and bed head. Cute cute. AND our day begins...
I needed a shower. Big time. I (honestly?) couldn't remember when I'd last showered.
Problem... we needed to get our schoolwork done before our 11:15 play date today. SO... I was creative. Told the 1st grader to go get a couple school books and a pencil. Got a bag of magnet dolls and said "C'mon guys!" Took all 3 in the bathroom with me. Set the two littles on the ground with magnet dolls, hopped in the shower, read the directions for English from behind the shower curtain... said "go for it! tell me when you're done" He did his English page while I showered, "Done mom!!" checked it ... looks good. So then I read the directions for Phonics workbook, he completes 3 pages and I complete my shower. Hop out... we're not totally behind.
Continue, and finish school work (Latin, Reading, History, Spelling, Mathematics, & Religion) by about 10:40 am. (Might be a record for us!) The fact that the J-man was motivated by his playdate and NOT whiny today was wonderful.
10:50am - Hop in car and head out to playdate. Said a guardian angel prayer for our drive together. Started out and somehow just drove right past my exit!! whatt!? weird. (Been on this road a million times!) So I turn to go back around and "DING!!" Gas bell and light goes off. Then I realize... my wallet... still back at home... in other diaper bag. Fail.
Go back home... get the wallet, have just enough gas to get back to gas station. Fill up on gas.
Hmm... I realize never would have made it if we hadn't totally missed the main exit on the first trip. THANKS GUARDIAN ANGELS!!! :) Way to go. We thank Jesus outloud in the van for helping us out.
11:45am - Finally make it to playdate, half hour late. Feed kids lunch, watch them play, start loading up car around 2pm (when other kids had dance class and were headed out, and my toddler needed a nap.) *RING! RING! My cell phone... Verizon guy... waiting at my house already? Ohh... ok...
Ooops. "We'll be home in 20 minutes!"
An hour later after horrible traffic, we end up home. All 3 kids are asleep in van. Verizon guy, does not have a happy face! I apologize profusely of course and let him inside to get to work.
I bring little one in assuming he'll continue his nap (like usual) ... but then Verizon guy drills like crazy and scares the Bajeebee's outta him. Fannnntastic. 2 yr old had short nap, no more nap today. I take 2 yr old downstairs where 5 and 3 yr old are watching Backyardigans.
3:30 pm- Kids watch movie, I do the dishes that are piled huge and high in my kitchen. Movie is over.... I go downstairs and pick up entire playroom while a Princess Protector and Prince and Princess are playing around me, hopping on a pillow path? Playroom is clean. I put laundry baskets in laundry rom and realize that there's clothes still in the dryer. Take out the clothes... listen to kids playing while I fold the clothes.
Carry the clothes upstairs, having lots of contractions (21 weeks and counting!) so I get some lemonade and sit down.
It's 5pm. I should get up and make dinner....
I check my email first... and 2yr old is on left screaming "reeeeadddd itttt!!! Go DOG GO!!! reeeeeaddd ittt!!" with a book. 5 yr old is on right telling me ALLLL about is newest LEGO CAR creation.....
I should get up and make dinner.
But you know us Stay-at-home-Mom's.. we are so lazy. We sit around and do nothing all day! ;o)
