Insomnia.

I've never had it before...

until now.

It stinks!

It's been weeks. I have so much trouble falling asleep at night, and staying asleep, and falling back asleep early in the morning if I am up. (Granted, some of my sleep is interrupted by a baby.) But still, it's never been this bad. I am thinking of trying some melatonin supplements again, since that's natural, safe and healthy (for both me and nursing baby boy.)

Any suggestions anyone!?

All Saints Day - and other things going on around here

* I edited this since I had my days/holidays mixed up... :oP

We have lots going on around here and I apologize for my lack of blogging. It most likely will just get worse over the holidays... I just figure I'd better warn you ;o)

This past Sunday we went to Member Night at the Science Center which was pirate themed. In case you couldn't tell from my last post, pirates are a very big thing around our house these days. Not that my kids actually know about pirates pilaging and so forth, but somewhere along the way my son decided pirates were fun and therefore, we play a lot of "pirates" around here and pretend to be on ships sailing and looking for treasure and saying things like "Arrggghhh! Ahoy Mateys!" It's pretty funny. I'm pretty sure that hiding under the dining room table is the pirate ship of choice ... and pirate Josiah and pirate Lydia got a big thrill from a baby pirate crawling into their ship the other day. Josiah was saying, "C'mon Ben! board the ship!" They are just too cute for words. Anyway, the science center night was fun and I dressed both kids as pirates and painted their faces. Unfortunately, the battery (small one, like a watch battery) in our camera is dead and although I tried to buy a new one, Target didn't have one so I'm going to have to check Radio Shack or something. We got a few pictures on Michael's blackberry but that's it. As we all know, this Sunday is Halloween. Josiah is going to be... how did you guess? A pirate. He makes the cutest "pirate face" and really gets into the spirit. Trust me I'm going to try to have my camera up and running by then. Lydia is going to be Minnie Mouse! Thanks to Lilli who passed on her costume from last year. (THANKS LILLI!!)

The day after Halloween is All Saints Day!! So this week in our kindergarten curriculum Josiah and I are learning all about the Saints. He is enjoying it and it's pretty laid back. We're just reading about Saints and coloring pictures and making a little book of them. I figure we'll throw a little All Saints party here for the kiddos on November 1st and make some cupcakes or something! At dinner tonight he said to Daddy, "the saints are people who lived as good images of God on earth and now live in heaven." way to go little man! (Glad he's listening when I teach) hahaha. The day after All Saints is All Souls. We are thinking of starting a new tradition and lighting a candle for each soul we know that is in heaven and saying a prayer for them.

Well, there's more going on... but mainly Mommy is seeing the dentist way more often than she'd like, including a fabulous root canal tomorrow morning which I'm just so excited about. (kidding. obviously!) although it will be nice to eat on the right side of my mouth once again. There are other family health issues which shall be revealed in due time. (Ahhh don't I sound mysterious?) it's not a mystery- just other stories for another post, so I'll get to that sometime soon. And for heaven's sake NO I'm definitely NOT pregnant. lol (just figured I'd make sure we're clear on that)   ....For now, I just gotta go to bed! The baby I already have has been keeping us up at night.

Oh, which reminds me, they seem to be just about over their nasty colds though! What, I didn't mention the colds? Yes all three kids have been sick- well, they were last week- and Daddy too. Thank God they are all just about 100% now!

More to come soon. Love and God bless!

Mr. Orangey

Yes, Grandpa recently visited with a new "pet." I kid you not, this butterfly just hung out on my Dad's hand/arm/shoulder walking around for atleast 20 minutes. He's the butterfly tamer! haha.

I think he showed up with the butterfly (affectionately named "Mr.Orangey" by Josiah!) because he just wanted to show the kids and then re-capture it with Josiah's butterfly net. However, the butterfly just hung out and then finally after a half hour maybe, flew off of him and onto our curtains. Then my Dad released him out on our patio so the kids could watch him fly around. Unfortunately, he then forgot to release him from the patio before heading home. To make matters worse, we forgot about him in there until we got back from being away for the whole weekend! Yet, Mr.Orangey was happy and flying around 3 days later and was released into the yard.

Ahhh the wonderful adventures around here.

Why rest?

...When you can crawl?

You know your baby has reached a developmental milestone when they are up again all throughout the night, sitting up, or standing and keeping themselves awake at  night. Well, Benjamin is officially a crawler. I think he was up for the day around 5:30am today? At 6 am I gave up and just brought him to the living room to play and made coffee for myself. haha.  As soon as I sat him down on the rug-- he crawled off and grabbed Lydia's puzzle. (safe, large wooden pieces) but still- he's a crawler. Oh boy. Here we go!

Wish me luck :) Better yet, pray I can keep this house semi-clean for our new crawling baby!

On the Move...

Benjamin crawled last night!

He did it for the first time (the teeniest bit) a few weeks ago when Aunt Laura was here, but hadn't duplicated it since. Last night though... yup, he was pretty confident. Looks like we'll have a baby crawling all over by the end of the week!

So now I'm off to clean. And vacuum. And baby proof some more :)

Growing and Growing...

Well, Benjamin is 7 months old and he (officially- we had our LATE 6 month check at the doctors on October 1st! haha) weighs 18 lbs. You heard me! and he's ...well I don't remember the exact # of inches but he's tall for his age as well- 75 percentile or something. At this point I'm not surprised by big babies-- this is just how we make 'em! Lydia had her 2 year check the same day, and weighs 27 lbs and is also very tall- I believe 75 percentile as well. The doctor was shocked that Benjamin is now sitting himself up all on his own and that Lydia knows all her colors. Yay! They are all doing just peachy. Praise God for happy healthy kids!

(I think Daddy sometimes wishes they weren't so big and heavy!)

As of yesterday, Benjamin is also trying to pull up. Oh Lord help me... I guess he just can't wait to chase around his big brother and big sister!

Here he is trying to pull up on the train table- and chew on it. That boy, he's just so cute.

He made you smile, didn't he? Yup, he has that affect on us too. Ok, he has that affect on everyone.

Happy Monday!
